Reducing Corrosion and Enhancing HVAC Efficiency in Data Centers

As critical infrastructure providers, modern data center operators face unique environmental challenges. The degradation of electronic components and the emission of particulate matter and gases from IT equipment not only threaten the longevity of valuable computing assets but also impact the performance and lifespan of HVAC systems used to maintain the controlled environments necessary for optimal operation. enVerid Systems offers a cutting-edge solution that addresses these challenges by effectively removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other harmful contaminants from the air. Our technology is designed to preserve hardware integrity while reducing the strain on HVAC equipment, ensuring a stable and optimal environment for the longterm operation of these mission-critical systems.

VOCs Cause Metal Corrosion

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in data center environments, including acetic acid emitted from electronic components and materials, pose a significant corrosion risk to critical infrastructure. These acidic VOCs can accumulate in the enclosed data center space and, when combined with temperature and humidity fluctuations, accelerate the corrosion of metal surfaces. This corrosive process particularly affects HVAC systems and sensitive electronic equipment, leading to premature component failure, increased maintenance requirements, and potential system downtime. The presence of these corrosive VOCs can significantly impact both operational costs and equipment reliability.

Remove Acetic Acid Gas Contaminants

enVerid Systems provides an innovative solution specifically designed to mitigate the effects of VOCs, including acetic acid, in storage environments. Our patented technology is integrated into existing HVAC systems to capture and remove harmful VOCs from the air. enVerid’s solution helps to:

  • Preserve film quality by removing acetic acid from the storage environment
  • Reduce corrosion by removing acid gases from the environment
  • Enhance HVAC performance by reducing corrosive VOCs in the air
  • Reduce operational costs by improving the efficiency of HVAC systems
  • Improve sustainability by reducing the environmental impact of HVAC operations
Benefits of Sorbent Ventilation Technology in Data Centers

Air Cleaning for Gaseous Contaminants

The enVerid Sorbent Filter is a field-replaceable filter that delivers proven, long-lasting air cleaning for gaseous contaminants such as acetic acid and a wide range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde, without producing any byproducts.

enVerid Sorbent Filters capture airborne contaminants through a process by which contaminant molecules attach to the surface of the sorbent material as air passes through the filter. Sorbent Filter efficiency for a representative list of design compounds has been proven through rigorous testing by accredited independent labs. Third-party tests have also confirmed that enVerid Sorbent Filters do not produce any VOC or ozone byproducts.

Flexible Solutions with Sorbent Filtration

enVerid sorbent filters are available in easy to install HLR modules which consist of a filter box and integral fan to move room air through the filter set, removing the gas contaminants and circulating back in the the space. The HLR 100Z and HLR 100M can be installed independently or as part of the HVAC system and are typically used to cover up to 7,500 and 20,000 ft2, respectively.
